Getty Images’ Israel-based subsidiary, PicScout, harnesses visual recognition for online tracking of images, and now, it’s released two brand new tools to boost its capabilities.

  1. The first is called Insights for Business, which helps brands and agencies place images online
  2. The second is named Insights for Everyone, and it lets individuals track the online use of their photos.

Before, PicScout’s business focused mainly around making sure brands’ and images’ were only being used online for licensed purposes.  The business tracked metadata that had accompanied images and employed visual recognition to “fingerprint” the images, so that it was able to recognize if they were altered, all automatically.

PicScout General Manager Uri Lavi said that, typically, a customer would provide a library of images, and PicScout would return a report on where they would thy were being utilized online.  License enforcment was up to the customer.  PicScout works with outside customers, although its a Gett Images subsidiary.

The company has now added artifical intelligence-drive deep learning.  This helps to providd more than just visual recognition for tracking.
