Google-thumbGoogle has announced a brand new “lite mode” for the Google News Android app.

The core reason for this new mode is for the countries that have a slow mobile internet, such as 2G and 3G mobile connection.  Google is launching this in India and they said it’ll be “rolling this out to other countries in emerging markets in the coming months.”

In the Google News app for Android in full mode, it “aggregates headlines, images and related content, making it fast and easy for people to find articles they care about,” said Google.  With Light mode, Google will keep the “headlines and trim the rest of the components down to their essentials so that the app loads more quickly.”  According to Google, this will use less than one-third of the data.
