Google Has Officially Killed Off Their Link Command

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

It has been confirmed by a Google spokesman that the company’s link command is functioning no longer.  Google told Search Engine Land that the feature is no longer around, and trying to use a link:www.domain.com will probably return irrelevant results.

There were signs of this going away a year ago, although back then, Google said that the link operator “is not dead.”  But now, Google says that the link operator is basically dead.

On January 11, Google’s John Mueller told webmasters not to use it.  Even though most webmasters haven’t used it for years now, it’s still worth knowing that, even though the link operator returns results, it can be deceiving, and that the function isn’t working.

In a nutshell, Google has confirmed that the feature isn’t working at all know, even though they have not commented on when they’ll make sure the command returns nothing or message hat it no longer is functioning.
