Google Testing A Carousel Of Sitelink Cards In Search Ads

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

Google-logoAre things seeming a little boring in mobile search now that the big desktop shake up with the removal of right rail ads has occurred?  Well, Google is here to make things exciting again, as they’re testing a new look for sitelinks on mobile.

You might be thinking that a sitelink test wouldn’t be all that exciting, but this could be interesting, this one is a new use for a cards in paid search ads. Conrad O’Connell has some screenshots posted of the new test on Serptests.com, which includes a search for “ocean isle beach rentals“.  When I tried replicating the test myself on both desktop and mobile, I was unable to see the carousel of ads.  The sitelink cards, when the test is working, will appear in a sweepable carousel below the ad copy in this Airbnb ad.

This is what I got when I tried the test:

Right now, there isn’t any official name for these, but they’re being unofficially called sitelinks by Search Engine Land because they link to pages o the Airbnb site.  It’s possible that they could be called something else by Google in the future, but we’ll have to wait and see.
