Google-g-logo-2015-1920-800x450Have you ever used the voice search feature in in the Google App and thought, “hey, I sure wish that it was faster”?  Well, now your question has been answered and your wish granted.  The search company announced that they have added new computational models that are “are more accurate, robust to noise, and faster to respond to voice search queries models.”

According to a spokesperson for Google, the Google Voice search within the Google app is now 300 milliseconds faster.  Plus, there are those who feel that the app has gotten as much as an extra 500 millisecond speed boost, depending on the device they’re using.

There are more specific details on Google’s blog post about how voice search is faster and and more accurate.  Google says that they’re using Connectionist Temporal Classification and sequence discriminative training techniques, which are meant to improve the “neural network acoustic models.”  These are extensions to the recurrent neural networks that make voice search on Google more “accurate, especially in noisy environments, and they are blazingly fast!”
