Google’s New Assortment Report Shows Retailers Which Products They’re Missing Out On

Adwords-shopping-campaigns-assortment-reportThe holiday season is here, and just in time for the season, the ultimate FOMO report for retailers advertising on Google Shopping has arrived to help.

The new Sopping Assortment report in Google Merchant Center will show you the most popular products on Google that are not in your feed.  You can search by product category, which allows you to zoom in on the products that you feel are important to your business.  You could find products that should actually be active in your feed, as well as identify popular products to carry.  The report even includes up to five price benchmarks from other retailers who are selling each item to help inform your pricing strategies.

The report will look back at the past two week (the last 14 days).  According to the Help Center article, the ranking is based upon user clicks “and other indicators” in your target country.

Daniel Dutton, Target strategy leader, tells Google that they’ve been using the report to find products that they haven’t been carrying and prioritizing re-stocking orders for out-of-stock items.
