In an announcement, TikTok and Sony Music Entertainment have come to an agreement to create a new licensing deal, which will allow TikTok creators to include even more popular songs into their videos.

In the announcement, Tiktok said:

“This is an exciting step forward in the level of collaboration between the two companies. With this deal, the TikTok creator community will have access to sound clips from Sony Music’s massive catalog of current hits, cutting edge new releases, emerging favorites, iconic classics and deep cuts from every genre of music for use in their TikTok content. TikTok and Sony Music will work together to support greater levels of TikTok user personalization and creativity on the platform, and drive new and forward-looking opportunities for fan engagement with SME’s artists and music.”

Tiktok has been a great place for musicians to reach an incredibly large audience, considering how huge the video platform is. This is why a music deal between the two companies was a great idea. Tiktok gets more music to utilize for their platform without worrying about legal issues, and Sony Music gets a cut of the pie. It’s a win-win for both sides.
