Recently, @adaircameron and@tecnonetblog discovered something new about Google’s new Adword ads format test. In the new “card” format, a new yellow ad icon has begun appearing next to the display URL.
The bright new label is replacing the much more subtle “ad” that rests next to the “i” icon in the current design. Since the standard yellow ad background is gone, the new “Ad” label pops out, making it easier to see for users.
In the screenshot below, you’ll see an example of the new new ad icon in action.
It looks like the organic listings and ads are in white boxes, which sit in front of a new gray background. The gray background that sat behind the Google Logo and search box have disappeared.
