Amazon Echo Now Offers Local Search With Help From Yelp

When it comes to the mobile search/personal assistants, such as Siri, Google Now and Cortana, local search has been a great case for the technology.  Now, it looks like Amazon’s Echo is jumping into the pool as well.

It seems that Echo has a pretty limited local search toolset.  As an example, users could ask for local weather forcasts or what the traffic is like between two points.  But an additional feature has been added by Amazon that lets you get information about local businesses with the data that Echo provides using Yelp.

Once you’ve done your voice search, the Echo/Alexa mobile app shows you the search results with more information, including Yelps star ratings.  For some screenshots and more video examples of Echo’s local search abilities, check out the link below.
