The Bing Image Widget hasn’t even been available for a month yet, and already there seems to be a problem. The widget is temporarily offline after Microsoft was sued by Getty Images over the feature.
When anybody tries accessing the tool, they will be shown a notice that says that the “Image Widget” has been “temporarily removed the beta.”
The lawsuit itself that Getty Imaged filed against Microsoft has cited “massive infringement.” Although Microsoft pulled the feature offline, anybody who has already implemented the embed code on their site still seems to work.
According to a Microsoft spokesperson, “We have temporarily removed the Bing Image Widget beta so we can take time to talk with Getty Images and better understand its concerns.”
