Should I Build Links Using Article Directories?

Article directories have gotten to become synonyms with bad link building practices as of late. They may have worked before, allowing people to write short 300-400 word articles, and submitting them to countless article directories in the hopes for some extra links.

But in truth, article directories have gotten a bad rap lately due to generally lower quality content.   This leads us to a question proposed to Matt Cutts, the head of Google Search Spam.

“Links from relevant content in article directories — Seen as good or bad? eg. I link my beauty website from a cosmetic surgery article on say, Ezine? Would you do that?”
