Facebook is introducing its knowledge panel-like information boxes into its search results for certain queries, SocialMediaToday first reported on June 9. The information within the boxes are sourced from Wikipedia.
Just like with Google knowledge panels, these boxes might surface for non-human entities, such as with television shows.
Clicking on any of the links within the information box takes users to the Facebook search results for those queries.
The Facebook search engine focuses mainly on connecting users with content that lives on the site, although Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said, “Search for Facebook is going to be a multiyear voyage”; that was back in 2014.
