Facebook Marketplace Is Open For Businesses Selling New Products

There’s a misconception about Facebook Marketplace going around. It’s believed that it is still just a C2C platform that has its similarities to Craigslist. But now, this is no longer the case.

In its early stages, Facebook Marketplace offered only individual users the opportunity to list and purchase local items. After growing in popularity, Facebook began adding new features to the Marketplace, such as the ability to process a transaction through checkout, and the option to offer shipping. Facebook Marketplace is now open to US-based businesses selling new products.

Based on Facebook’s internal data from 2019, a third of Facebook users are utilizing Facebook Marketplace. This presents a huge B2C opportunity for US retailers.
