Facebook Piloting New Profile Search Feature On Profile Pages

A view of facebook's logo May 10, 2012 iHave you ever thought about finding something specific on a friend’s profile on Facebook?  Of course you have at some point.  I know I’ve done that more than once before.  Unfortunately, in order to do that, you would have to do an unfortold amount of scrolling to hopefully find what you’re looking for.  There was never an option available that would allow somebody to locate a specific post on an isolated profile before.  But now, there has been some news that folks have been spotting a way to search for particular posts in the wild.

Alexander Kaufman, who is the editor for Huffington Post Business, spotted the above search box that relegated the search function to a specific profile.  Mashable was able to replicate the search feature as well, along with the specific results.  There were able to confirm that this was just a test wand was being piloted.  Currently, I was not able to check out the test myself.  Here’s what a Facebook spokesperson had to say:

We’re piloting a way to search for people’s posts from within their Profiles. You can only search for posts that you can already see on their Timelines.”

The ability to search for posts on a profile could be a great thing for brands as well.  The feature would allow customers another way to find recent news on any Facebook page.  Allowing a user to search for a specific term or phrase could help them get the exact news they want from a single source.

There’s more information that you can take a look at by going over to Mashable.
