On July 3, when the users of Facebook and Instagram tried checking their feeds, they realized that there was an issue that was affecting image uploads

In a tweet posted the same evening from the Facebook Business account, the company wrote:

“During one of our routine maintenance operations, we triggered an issue that is making it difficult for some people to upload or send photos and videos. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

But in the evening of the 3rd, the issues seemed to have been resolved.

Facebook confirmed the outage at 9:18 AM EST today:

The issue was most noticeable on Instagram, as it focuses on images. Users where unable to view photos, videos or stories published.

Facebook had issues with images and videos as well. Other things seemed to work, as people were still able to send messages through text-based posts. For Instagram, it was rendered unusable.
