Google Display Planner Tool To Replace Ad Planner, Placement Tool & Contextual Targeting Tool

Google-adwords-square-logoIt has been announced that Google is migrating three of their existing AdWords tools directly into a new version of the Google Display Planner.  To be specific, the three tools that are going to be built into the Display Planner Tool is the Contextual Targeting Tool, the Placement Tool, and the Google Ad Planner.

According to Google, this should make your life easier, giving you access “with one click you can add all the keywords, placements, or other targeting ideas you choose directly into your campaigns.”

The Contextual Targeting Tool and the Placement Tool should be sunsetted over the “next few days” and Google Ad Planner will be killed off in early September.

Anybody still using Google Ad Planner, Google has recommended that you export and save the existing media plans and site lists you have created in the tool.

Of course, this news should surprise anybody.  Not long ago, Google announced they are migrating the Google Keyword Tool into the Keyword Planner tool.

There’s a good chance Google will clean up various tools by merging features into one tool over time.  Because of this, some of the functionality you are used to will be lost or even be confusing to use.
