If you’re one to do a lot of searching by location, there’s a chance you’ve probably noticed a little change that Google has made to their search options. Google has decided to drop the ability to filter your search results by changing your location. Before, users were able to set a location by clicking on the “Search Tools,” ultimately giving you search results as if you were in that location.
This feature was used by a variety of people, including SEOs and webmasters who were trying to get a handle on how searchers saw their search results in different locations. How about those who would travel and wanted to get geo-specific search results in the location that they were going to, so they could get better acquainted with those surroundings? Sorry, that isn’t going to happen anymore either.
As you can see, there is no way to select location anymore. Regardless of whether this is an intentional move by Google, or just a bug, this can certainly be an inconvenience to those who rely on being able to choose their location in the search results. Regardless, reports have been going around for over two weeks now, and it seems that now, it’s been fully rolled out.
