Back in November of last year, Google launched their mobile-first index experiment and wanted to try testing it enough before launching it in the near future. But, apparently it has proven to be more of a challenge for Google than they though, as it may not even launch this year.
On April 5th at Next10x Conference in Boston, Gary Illyes from Google stated that while the team wants to be hopeful that the mobile-first index will launch by the end of the year, he believes it’ll be unlikely.
Gary as asked by Search Engine Land to confirm, and he said that he did indeed say this at the event. The team that is working on the mobile-first index at Google “like to launch by end of the year.” Gary added that he feels “that’s unlikely to happen, at least fully.”
Right now there is no need to panic if you’re anxiious about the mobile-first index going live with Google. There is plenty of time to get ready.
