Thrive Business Marketing company logo

Google-news_logoIt looks like Google News has finally added app links to their Editor’s Picks section.  These app links allow users to download the native iOS and/or Android app of the publisher featured within the Editor’s Picks section.

Here’s some examples, which includes Bloomberg and Seeking Alpha, who has app links to both their iOS and Android apps.  TIME magazine has only the iOS app listed.

If you’re also a Google News publisher, then you have the ability to add your app links as well.  All you have to do is go to the Google Publisher Center and click on the “Mobile Apps” link on the left, and then add your app URLs there.

By adding your app URLs, Google will be able to know that your app is news-related, as well as relevant to your news Web site, which is already indexed by the Google News service.

Stacie Chan wrote,

“We know many of your publications have their own native Android and/or iOS apps — so starting today, you can now add your mobile app URLs to the Publisher Center.” Chan added, “In the very near future, we will surface the mobile app links on the Editors’ Picks section in Google News — both on the Web and in the News & Weather app.”

The following is a picture of the new section to add your apps, assuming that you are a Google News publisher:

If you want your app to show up, all you ahve to do is link your app in the Google News Publisher center, and then add your Editor’s Picks feed in the Google News Publisher Center.
