Google Pulls Plug On Gmail Grid View

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

Gmail logoFor every beginning, there is always and end.  It’s a simple law of the universe.  It’s the law of life.  Google has decided to bring to an end their testing of bringing visual pop to email.

Originally launched in March 2014, Google gave us the Gmail grid view, which could be found on users’ promotion tab.  This gave marketers t he ability to lead with images instead of “boring” text headlines.  We as users were given the ability to view the content within the promotions tab in either grid view or list view.  Even with the option to have images show up for your promotion emails, it seems more people still preferred the traditional subject line list format.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the had ended and said, “We are constantly experimenting with new features and promotion formats.”

For the time being, the Gmail team could be working on other ways that they could present marketing emails.
