Don’t worry, you have some extra time to transition to parallel tracking for Video campaigns, as the deadline has been pushed to June 15.

“Given recent global events, we wanted to give everyone extra time to make this transition,” Nicky Rettke, product management director for Google Video Ads wrote in the announcement Thursday.

If you’re already setup and ready to go to switch parallel tracking, you can totally opt-in now. In your Google Ads account:

  1. Click “Settings” from the “All campaigns” view
  2. Then go to “Account Settings” > “Tracking.”
  3. Switch on “Parallel tracking.”

Parallel tracking helps landing pages load faster by processing the tracking separately from the page load. Video is the last campaign type to be shifting to parallel tracking. Google requires it Search, Shopping and Display campaigns.

The “global events” mentioned is reference to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s indicative of the disruption the outbreak has caused for companies and employees at every level.
