On December 4, Google announced that messages within Google Search Console are currently accessible through the bell icon at the top of any within Search Console. Now, the interface allows site owners the ability to view messages from anywhere within the tool without having to leave reports.

Retrieving your messages anywhere in the interface will be more convenient and will improve workflow, which will facilitate better decision making.

Messages are now categorized into types, such as Performance, Coverage, Enhancement types and so on.

Once a user has access to a new site in Search Console, they will have the ability to view all messages the site has previously received, as far back as May 23, 2019. Messages sent prior to that date can only be viewed in the legacy message list or in your personal inbox.

For the time being, old messages are still available in the “Legacy tools & reports” section of the sidebar.
