Google Search Console Will Notify Less People For Typical Webmaster Notifications

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

GoogleIt was announced by Gary Illyes that the Google Search Console will begin sending out notifications to less people for the average notification type.  The change will occur in about three weeks, and it’ll impact only the average type of notification.  This will be the only type of notification that’ll be affected, so we won’t have to worry about the more critical messages that Google will notify webmasters with.

With this new change, Google will be notifying just the direct owner of the site in question, and not the property owner.  As an example given by Barry Schwartz, if a site such as https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel triggers a message within the Google Search Console, Google would notify any owners under the sites:
https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel (the site triggering the message)
https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a
https://example.com/dont/panic/have
https://example.com/dont/panic
https://example.com/dont
https://example.com

But now, only the owner of https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel will get the notification.  Of course, if there is a critical message, such as hacked site alerts, the message will go to all parent site owners.
