Google is running a new test with two types of Shopping ads in one search result.

When searching for a product, a carousel of standard product listing ads appears at the top of the mobile search result.  Another carousel of Showcase Shopping ads will appear below that.  The test was spotted by The SEM Post.

Below is a screenshot that shows the test running on mobile when searching for “engagement rings.”

The second carousel, which is labeled “Shop by store,” features Showcase Shopping ads.  Rather than linking to individual products on a website, Showcase ads bring up a Google-hosted page of a collection of related products from the retailer.

Showcase Shopping ad were designed to run on broad commercial queries, such as “engagement rings.”  I was unable to replicate this test myself.
