Today, it was announced by Google that the link data found within Google Webmaster Tools is much broader, and has more diverse cross-section of links.
In short, this means that instead of showing you links in alphabetical order, Google will show you sample links “uniformly from the full spectrum of backlinks rather than alphabetically.” This means that the links will show more diversity, giving you links from top-level domains, and even from different domain names.
What won’t change is the number of links Google will export from Google Webmaster Tools. That max number will remain at about 100,000 backlinks. The only thing that has changed is the types of links that are shown in the export.
Webmasters and SEOs will have a “better overview of those links” and will more easily be able to “clean up any bad linking practices.”
