The mobile interactive display ad format, called Swirl, began testing last year, and is now available globally to Display & Video 360 customers.

When viewing a Swirl ad, users are able to rotate, zoom and expand 3D elements. In the annoucement, Google said that the brand that have been testing Swirl ads includes

  1. Purina
  2. Nissan
  3. Adidas
  4. Belvedere Vodka

Once you have an already existing 3D asset, you can upload them to Google Web Designer and the select one of the Swirl templates or build creative from scratch. Poly, Google’s 3D design platform is available for use to configure your 3D models for Swirl ads.

Swirl ads are available in 3 different sizes. Fullscreen expansion is optional as well. The ads will run across Google Ad Manager inventory.

Advertisers will be able to get engagement time and type (rotation and expansion) metrics in DV360.
