Recently, three new search updates was been announce by Google that centers around features snippets, knowledge panel information and suggestive for related topics.
In a post on Google’s The Keyword blog, it says that a selection of featured snippets will now include more images and related search suggestions within the box displaying the featured snippet content.
It is also expanding the information displayed in the Knowledge Panel to include related content.
“For example, while looking at the Knowledge Panel about skiing, you’ll see related searches for sports such as snowboarding directly inside the result,” writes Google product manager, Michael Galvez.
The expansion of related topics, according to Google, not only has been updated within knowledge panel information, but at the top of search results as well.
Google says that searchers will see suggestions for related topics, and using an example for searches for succor players Neymar and Messi, you can “discover other athletes during your search session.”
Not only do we have these confirmed updates, we seem to see Google testing a new feature that displays a carousel with a list of answers directly within the search result snippet, as it was reported on December 5.
“Search is not just about answering your questions — it’s also about discovery,” writes Galvez, who also said that the updates were created to help searches further explore the topics they are researching.
