How Big Is Google’s Mobile-Friendly Algorithm?

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

Mobile devicesSo I’m sure that many of you have heard about the upcoming  mobile-friendly ranking algorithm that launches on April 21st.  Zineb Ait Bahajji, a Googler from the Webmaster Trends team said that this new update will have greater impact on Google’s search results than the Google Panda and Google Penguin updates did.

This new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm is going to have a “significant impact”, according to Google, on the mobile search results.  The impact that this update will have an even bigger impact on search results than even Panda or Penguin, despite the fact that this new update is only focusing on mobile results.

Aside from declaring the update will have quite an impact, Zineb didn’t say specifically release a percentage of queries impacted.  It’s believed that about 50% of any searches done on Google are on mobile devices.

In the end, it sounds like keeping your site non-mobile friendly isn’t going to work for much longer.  If have of your traffic from Google originates from mobile devices, you aren’t mobile friendly, and your mobile traffic is at risk.
