Getting slapped with a penalty by Google can be pretty rough. It can cause a lot of stress for you since you have to go through the rigorous process of trying to undo the damage done by the penalty. On top of that, you’ll also be dealing with the fact that the traffic that is coming to your site will drop. Noticeably. Finally, there may even be the stigma have having been hit with a penalty in the first place.
In a nutshell, there will always be the fear and dread of getting that message in Webmaster Tools that telling you that Google has applied a manual spam action to your site due to unnatural links.
