In a recent announcement, LinkedIn said that it is shutting down LinkedIn Lite, the pared-back version of the platform. LinkedIn Lite was designed for users in regions where internet connectivity isn’t that great.
Originally launched back in 2017 as a way to help “level the playing field for all members when it comes to accessibility”. It was created to load faster, and use less data, but as LinkedIn grew, the Lite app just couldn’t keep up with some of the newer and more advanced functionalities.
The LinkedIn Lite app will be removed from Android app stores on January 27th. The company will begin to transition Lite app users over to the full LinkedIn experience over the next few weeks.
