What is evergreen content?
Well, anybody who’s heard of the term ‘evergreen’ probably thinks of those evergreen trees that are typically green all year round. The evergreen tree is a symbol of perpetual life, so having evergreen pages/content is considered sustainable and long lasting. You might think that all content online lasts forever, which is true, but there’s a difference between a post that never disappears and content that remains relevant months or years later. That is what we mean by evergreen content.
What Evergreen Content is Not:
- News articles
- Statistics or numerical reports that are likely to change and go out of date
- Pieces about a specific holiday or season
- Articles focused on a current trend or pop culture fad
- Latest clothing and fashion trends
The death of those web pages that don’t possess evergreen properties is a sad way for them to go. After all, a number of these pages you’ve probably put a good amount of work into, and it’s sad to see them fade into the useless black of obscurity.
