gmail-androidFor a long time, any user of the Android Gmail app has had the fortune of not having to deal with mobile ads while checking their email.  But that has changed.  With the latest Android Gmail update, the game will change.  Ads will begin appearing in the app.

According to Marketing Land, Artem Russakovskii of Android Police has found that version 4.6 of the app  has the ability to display ads within the app, although it seems its not active yet.

After rummaging around the code of the app, Artem believes that users are going to be able to have the choice to save ads as messages, or choose not to.

Here is the code:
<string name=”ad”>AD</string> <string name=”ad_will_not_save”>Will not save ad as message</string> <string name=”ad_will_save”>Will save ad as message</string> <string name=”ad_dismissed”>Ad dismissed</string>
