Periscope Launches Live 360 Video Broadcasting

Thrive Business Marketing company logo

When it comes to social media networks, it looks like 2016 was the year that live video became a pretty huge thing.

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have come out with announcements and upgrades to their live offerings, and Periscope/Twitter is helping to finish up the year with a bang.  There are some Periscope users who will now have the ability to broadcast live 360 videos on the platform.

These new types of videos will work just like the other standard 30 integrations where you will be able to physically rotte (or swipe/drag) to see in the full 360 degrees.  Any live 360 videos will be marked with a red “LIVE 360” badge in the bottom left.

These 360 videos, currently, can be views by all users, although a select group of partners are eligible to broadcast in 360.  But if you’re interested in trying out this new feature, there is a form that exists where you can sign up to join the Periscope 360 waitlist. Periscope has stated that this feature will be rolling out more broadly in the coming weeks.
