Back in late February, there were some brick-and-mortar advertisers who logged into their accounts to find that new campaigns named “Local Search Ads Experiment Campaign” populated in AdWords.

It has been confirmed by Google that these campaigns are running currently for select advertisers only.  These campaigns are promoting verified business locations in local search results in both Google Search and maps without using keywords.

Rather than using keywords, Google My Business (GMB) information (such as location address and location category) to trigger relevant results.  Currently, advertisers aren’t able to request to take part in the experiment at this time.

How should advertisers thing about this recent development with these campaigns still in the early stages?
