Pinterest’s Updated Browser Extension Turns Off-Pinterest Images Into Search Queries

When Pinterest teased how it will bring its visual search engine to the real world back on February 8th, the social network and search engine extended its ability to turn images into search queries across the wider web.

Pinterest started updating its browser extensions on Tuesday so that people can click on an image on any web page and be shown related pins from Pinterest.  According to a Pinterest spokesperson, the extension’s search result won’t include ads.

For the time being, the visual search feature is going to be available only through Pinterest’s Chrome extension.  Eventually, the company is planning to add its extensions for other browsers.
