Princeton Study Compares Disease And Facebook

Disease microscope 600 How far some people have fallen.  It seems that Princeton researchers has taken to the idea of applying an infectious disease model to analyze Facebook usage, as well as to predict the future trajectory of the social network.  In the study, the researchers came to the conclusion that in the coming years, it will lose 80% of it’s peak user base.  The Princeton researchers believe this will take place between 2015 and 2017.

Facebook decided to fire back at Princeton by taking a look at Princeton’s future enrollments.  Facebook said “that Princeton will have only half its current enrollment by 2018, and by 2021 it will have no students at all, agreeing with the previous graph of scholarly scholarliness.”

The idea behind Princeton’s study was to show that Facebook, like any virus or disease, will eventually slow down and disappear.  This would be akin to any flu or disease outbreak.

What do you think of the prediction to Princeton’s claim of Facebook disappearing in the next three years?
