A view of facebook's logo May 10, 2012 i Facebook.  We all know this name.  Use it or not, love it or hate it, Facebook is one of the big names in the social network scene.  Facebook has quite a dominance over the social media landscape is quite evident, and here is one more point that we can add the reasons why the social network is number one.  According to a ShareThis report, more than eight out of ten shares from publishers’ websites are on Facebook.

Currently, the amount of shares on Facebook is standing at 84.3% of all shares shared.  This is an 11.9 percentage points since last year at this same time.  For the most part, I think the only term I can think of right now is “practical monopoly” for Facebook’s dominance over other social networks.  Twitter only has a 5.8% share of sharing, which is a 3 percentage points since last year.  Pinterest fell 5.3 percentage points to.29%  Blogger was the only other social network that rose 2.1 percentage points to 4.8%, according to the data from ShareThis.
