It seems that for the past several years, mobile has become very prevalent in the online marketplace. Of course, some people would probably argue against it, but I think we can see pretty clearly that mobile has become a massive, massive thing as of late. Some would even say that 2014 is the mobile tipping point, because according to ShareThis, a social data and sharing tool provider, sharing via smartphones and tablets surged more than 30% during the second quarter.
ShareThis had found, after getting data from its network of over 2 million U.S. publishers, sharing growth of almost 28% for smartphones and 23.5% for tablets when compared to the first quarter. According to the figures provided by ShareThis, desktop sharing dropped 5.5% in the second quarter.
When you compare the numbers ShareThis provided with the numbers of last month’s comScore estimate that 60% of all digital media time was spent using mobile devices during the month of May, I think we can clearly say mobile is a pretty big thing.
