When I look at SEO, I think about a ton of different things that combine together to create the field of SEO. Content creation, link building, PPC, Social Media and trends are just a few things that make up what SEO is. But in the eyes of some people, what SEO all comes down to is something simple, and that’s crawlability and content quality. We know that SEO is not the only industry to have this unfortunate thing happen to.
One example I think about is journalism. I may not be a journalist buff, but because of that, I could say that what journalism boils down to is some guy whipping up and article and giving it to their editor and that’s it. I know there’s got to be more to it than that. More aspects than I can think of has to be there to take up more time than just a fat guy sitting in front of his computer and typing some words and calling it good.
And of course I apologize to any and all journalists right here about calling them fat and saying that all they do is just type words. I know there’s more to it than that.
In today’s Whiteboard Friday, Rand Fishkin champions the art and science of SEO and gives us all a little insight into how the SEO field actually is.
