Snapchat’s company, Snap Inc, has reported a 44% year over year increase in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2019. The company has reached $561 million. Regarding daily active users (DAUs), Snapchat has reached 218 million, which is up from 210 million in the previous quarter.
Potentially do to the likes of rivals like Instagram and TikTok, Snap fell short of analysts’ revenue expectations of $563 million. This is a sign that they are struggling against their rivals.
Since there was an 17% increase when compared to last year, DAUs rose by the biggest rate year over year in the fourth quarter of 2019 since Q4 of 2017 when the daily audience grew by 18%. There was an increase of 35% of total daily time spent by watching Snapchat’s Discover tab year over year in Q4 2019.
The average revenue per user (ARPU) rose 23% to $2.58 year over year, although the growth is slowing down compared to the 33% growth from the previous quarter.
Although Snap didn’t provide any breakdowns of ad revenues, it did indicate that revenue from it’s Commercials ad unit more than tripled year over year, and Story Ads doubled in Q4 of 2019.
