The ad was filmed in black and white, and is a parody of Marilyn Monroe’s famous rendition of the “Happy Birthday” song she performed for JFK when he turned 45 at Madison Square Garden.
In the spot, the individual who appears to be Monroe takes center stage to sing the famous birthday song, but instead, you get a gravelly rendition that is remicent of Harvey Fierstein singing.
“Since we’re kicking-off the ’50’ celebration of one of the world’s most iconic events it seemed only fitting to cast Marilyn Monroe. This is just a small glimpse of what America should expect from Snickers on Super Bowl Sunday.”
This commercial is the latest addition to Snicker’s “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign line of ads. The offical Super Bowl ad will air during the first quarter of the Super Bowl.
