For TikTok, things are going to be interesting for them in the coming month.
Earlier this month, President Trump said that he was considering banning the app. If this goes through, this will not be the first time the app will be banned. India went through with banning all Chinese apps, which includes TikTok.
According to Mik Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, the Government was certainly considering the TikTok ban. He said that it’s not as a form of punishment for COVID-19, but more about concerns that it could be used as a surveillance tool, as well as a source of propaganda for the Chinese regime, which is not unfounded. ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, has worked with the CCP to moderate anti-government content and distribute pro-China material within its apps.
