Despite the fact that TikTok’s future is uncertain in the US, the company is still doing what it can to expand internationally. ByteDance is planning a $500 million data center in Ireland in order to house European user info, says a Bloomberg report.
An interesting point is that TikTok wants to make their European HQ in London, but the British Government isn’t very certain if they want the UK to be its home base outside of Chine.
But TikTok’s proceedings on this matter has been slowed down considerably due to the US talks, and this has had quite the effect on the London HQ situation. But, if Microsoft, which is based in Washington state, can get their hands on TikTok, then that could completely change the game.
