What was the Top Tending Google Search In The US & Globally For 2017?

Google has released its “Year in Search” for 2017, which has over 40 top 10 lists for searches in the US and globally.  These searches terms are ranked based on the top trending searches that saw the highest spikes in traffic over the year of 2017, compared to 2016.

The number one top trending search for the US was “Hurricane Irma”.  It even ranked at number one on the trending global searches and top news searches of the year.

“Hurricane Harvey” even showed up in the top overall searches and top news searches in the US.  The “Las Vegas Shooting” and “Solar Eclipse” searches even made it on that list as well.

“Many of our trending questions centered around the tragedies and disasters that touched every corner of the world,” says Google, “In these moments and others, our collective humanity shined as we asked ‘how to help’ more than ever before.”

For The US top Searches, Google released a number of categories, which covered a slew of things, such as the top searched people, athletes, how-to searches, actors, movies, consumer tech, and even the top searched celebrity breakups of the year.

For global searches, there were 15 different categories that Google put together in regards to the top trending search terms.  There are a number that mirrored the results of the top searches in the US, with “Hurricane Irma” at the top of the global search list, as well as “Matt Lauer” leading the top searches people list
