Last December, Twitter announced that it would be deprecating access for app developers to its site stream, user stream and some direct messaging features. This week, updates have been rolling out this week, which impacts functionality of apps like Twitterific and Tweetbot.

According to MacRumors.com reports, Twitter timelines, now without the ability to connect to streams in real time, will displayed over WiFi be refreshed every one to two minutes in both Tweetbot and Twitterific.

Not only will the timeline be delayed, but push notifications for direct messages and mentions will be delayed n Tweetbot.  Push notifications for likes, follows, retweets and quote, as well as Activity and Stats, will no longer be part of the app.

Taproot, who is the developer for Tweetbot, said that it is looking into options for bringing back some of the notifications.  It also gave a comment on these changes.
