Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Confirms Company Will Lay Off 336 Employees

Twitter logo We all have been hearing the news that Jack Dorsey has recently been named the Twitter’s permanent CEO.  But, only eight days into his permanent reign as CEO, Dorsey has confirmed a report from Re/code that Twitter will be reducing their number of employees.

In an email from Dorsey to Twitter’s employees, there will be a layoff of 336 employees, which accounts eight percent of its staff.

In the email, Dorsey wrote,

“So we have made an extremely tough decision: we plan to part ways with up to 336 people from across the company. Twitter will go to great lengths to take care of each individual by providing generous exit packages and help finding a new job.”

In the email, Twitter’s product and engineering teams would suffer the “most significant structural changes.”  The rest of the organization is going to be streamlined as well.

“We feel strongly that Engineering will move much faster with a smaller and nimbler team, while remaining the biggest percentage of our workforce,” writes Dorsey.
