Recently, US President Trump was diagnosed with COVID-19, and the news about it spread like wildfire. There are a number of social media stories that focus on this situation, and some of them are looking at it with a very non-sympathetic view.

On Twitter, as I have even witnessed personally, there have been many negative Tweets that say they are glad he caught the virus, and there are those who wish death upon the president. Twitter has had to reiterate its rules around wishing harm against others. These rules were revised back in April to incorporate threats of real bodily harm or fatal disease against people.

As per Twitter:

“We’ve taken significant steps to address Tweets that violate our policies on abuse without people having to report it, with more than 50% being caught through automated systems.”
