Back in the day, search engines weren’t as sophisticated as they are now. If you wanted to be a “master” at SEO, it didn’t take nearly as much to rank your pages or sites as it does today. It takes so much more effort and time to get your site to rank well and do well with searchers than it did even ten years ago. The tech that is behind these search engines are getting smarter and smarter and are getting better at determining and understanding web entities, which will allow the search engines to learn how real people perceive things, allowing people to get the results they want from the search engines.
In Google’s recently updated Quality Rating Guide, there seems to be a much larger emphasis on E-A-T, which is short for expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness. This update in the Quality Ratings Guide tells us that there is a shift in the search engines that focuses more towards brand-related metrics to identify sites/pages that deserve to be more visible in search results.
