If Google was part of the animal kingdom, then I think Darwin would be proud. Why? Because Google has been constantly evolving ever since it first came out in 1998. At Google, they have been trying to make their search engine better, more aware, and even give it more abilities then it ever had back at it’s release.
If you choose to ignore how Google is changing and adapting every day, then you very well could be putting your business at risk with lost revenue and missed opportunities. Once you’ve gotten to the point that you’ve begun using the likes of AdWords and other Google services, your success is linked to the search giant.
Since Google is always changing, adjusting itself to fit the current online environment, you need to be able to keep up with this change, but there are a number of businesses that don’t do that. Even if they have their website set up to fit with Google at the time of launch, after time, the business owners will just watch Google change, and watch the gap between the search engine and their site widen. Soon, their website will begin losing traction and they may even see a loss in the rankings.
If you haven’t guessed by this point, this means that as a business owner who has this connection with Google, you’ve got to be sure you stay on top of things and keep your website up to date with all of the latest things that Google requires in order to keep up. There is an article on Search Engine Land that was written by Trond Lyngbø that outlines how to ensure you’re keeping up as SEO is constantly developing.
