Yahoo Wants To Syndicate Search To 600,000 Mobile Apps

Yahoo logo purple 800 Yesterday in San Francisco, Yahoo’s first mobile developer conference took place.  This could be a surprise to some, as Yahoo has been thought of as dead from an engineering and product standpoint.

Yahoo decided to launch an ambitious plan to extent the reach of its search, display and video ads through a new Mobile Developer Suite.  This new suite brings multiple products together so app developers can drive app installs, as well analyze their traffic and usage.

Here’s what the Developer Suite includes:

  • Flurry Analytics with Explorer  (app analytics)
  • Yahoo App Publishing (app monetization)
  • Yahoo App Marketing (user acquisition)
  • Yahoo Search in Apps (Yahoo web search integration + ads)
  • Flurry Pulse (transmission of data to partners)

Currently, Flurry is embedded as an analytics solution in over 600,000 mobiles apps, allowing it to reach 1.6 billion devices world wide.  To help bring things into comparison, Facebook has “745 million mobile daily active users on average for December 2014.”  This will allow you to get an idea of Flurry and Yahoo’s mobile scale.
